Olivier van Herpt

May 21- July 23, 2017

opening: Sunday May 21, 16.00 hrs

Dutch designer Olivier van Herpt combines cutting-edge technology with natural materials to create intricately textured ceramic vessels. Challenged by the limits of 3D-printing technology, Van Herpt successfully designed a 3D printer that can not only produce larger forms, but works with ceramics, a challenging material due to the weight of wet clay. He has used this to print new pottery, that blurs the line between what is made by human hand and the machine. A beautiful showcase of the craft of digital manufacturing.

Graduated in 2015 at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the work of Van Herpt is already in museum collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Princessehof in Leeuwarden
